Awkward Space Use

billy bookcase closet organizersWe have been spending a good portion of our free time this year redecorating and organizing our home.  We decided to make better use of an awkward sloped space as a dressing room and shoe closet.

The billy bookcases from Ikea fit perfectly under the eaves and I like that you can buy additional shelves to fit more shoes.  Not only did we gain storage behind the bookcases, but they make the space feel much more finished.  We are very happy with how this turned out!

Ped Egg Review

I am a bit too much of a germaphobe to enjoy a pedicure in a salon, but that’s another story for another day…

Before I tried the ped egg I would go to get a pedicure at least once a month for the sole (pardon the pun) purpose of exfoliating the bottoms of my feet, which was hard to do on my own. Post-ped egg discovery I am happy to say that I haven’t had the need for a salon pedicure at all. Both my wallet and my germaphobic brain are much happier for it. The before and after pretty much speak for themselves. I would recommend picking up a few replacement files to go with it though, because they will dull with use.IMG_8024

Turmeric Mask

Turmeric MaskIngredients:
1 part turmeric
1 part vitamin c
1 part water
6 drops argan oil
6 drops castor oil

Turmeric is a wonderful ingredient to use periodically in a mask for its anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties. Mix the mask ingredients well and apply the paste to your face. Be careful to keep the mask away from your eyes. Let sit for 5 minutes and wash off. To remove the yellow stain try a sugar or coffee scrub afterward and finish with a witch hazel astringent with a soft cloth to remove anything that remains.

Tip: this WILL stain your skin yellow. It will also stain fabrics. It would be wise to do this at least a day or two before any important events (in case you have trouble removing any of the stain) and wear clothes that you don’t mind ruining. :)
