Stop Bullying

Stop BullyingMy cousin almost lost her beautiful daughter, Gianna, this week to a suicide attempt resulting from bullying she experienced at school and on social media. Gianna has asked that her story be shared in the hopes that it may help someone else in a similar situation. Having experienced bullying myself I know firsthand how hard it is and how the torment seems to last for an eternity, but it does get better. It really does. To all those going through this, know that you are not alone. In fact, you are in great company. Many of the most creative, intelligent and successful people on this planet were bullied as children and went on to do extraordinary things – Lady Gaga, Elon Musk,  and Kate Middleton just to name a few. Please be brave and choose life. It WILL get better. Most of all, be kind to everyone you meet. Please help us share Gianna’s story and comment with your own stories of perseverance as well so Gianna and others going through this can see that there is life after bullying.

Fracking In Illinois

We met a group speaking out against fracking in Illinois at the Green Festival this past weekend. There is much that can be done to stop or limit this activity. JCAR, the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules, (12 IL Representatives and Senators), is able to block the fracking industry for up to 180 days by prohibiting the rules for fracking at their next meeting this Thursday, Nov. 6th. This would cause the rules to go back to the IL Dept. of Natural Resources for further work.

1) Please attend the next JCAR meeting this Thursday, Nov 6th at the Michael A Bilandic Building, 160 North LaSalle St, Chicago, IL – 10:45am – meet in front of the building on LaSalle St. – bring your friends so they can pack the meeting room for the – 11:30am JCAR meeting, Room 600 C. More information is available at or by contacting

2) Sign and pass this petition:

3) Call the 12 JCAR members and tell them:
“I am a resident of Illinois and I am deeply concerned about fracking. Prohibit the rules and bring this process out under the watchful eyes of the public. Thousands of IL residents have already shown you that they care deeply about the risks of fracking, including dangerous earthquakes in the active earthquake zones of the New Madrid and Wabash Valley in Southern Illinois. The fracking industry causes earthquakes, and this is an unacceptable risk! We say “no” to gutting the rules in closed door sessions. We care about our air, water, food and the future of our children on this planet. You have a duty to protect our climate from the methane that will inevitably leak from every well, pipe and tank, and to protect Illinois from earthquakes, radioactive waste, air and water contamination, and chemical secrets. Vote for the health, welfare and safety of the people of Illinois over the profits of the industry. Please prohibit the rules for fracking and send them back to the IDNR for improvements.”

You do not need to be their constituents to contact them. Their contact information is available in this pdf:
